The Pokémon Company announced the animated movie Pokémon: Wild Card during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships. The film centres on a Pokémon Trading Card Game player and his partner Mimikyu, is animated by CloverWorks, directed by Katsuhiko Kitada, produced by Story inc., with character designs by Akemi Hayashi, and is set to release starting in 2027.

The 2026 Pokémon World Championships marked the final time Pokémon UNITE was featured at the event, won by Zeta Division. A separate tournament, the Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo, is tentatively scheduled for late March 2027.

A collector in Coquitlam, British Columbia reported that a buyer paid with counterfeit cash and fled with three Pokémon cards arranged for sale via Facebook Marketplace. After the cards were relisted online using his own photographs, he and friends staged a meetup at a Burnaby mall, and police arrested one adult and one youth; all three cards were recovered.

At least 25 alleged victims in Thailand have filed complaints with Bangkok's Economic Crime Suppression Division over a Pokémon card seller identified as "Mr Mor", with combined reported losses exceeding 5 million baht (about $152,000). The Mega Evolution—Delta Reign set is reported to introduce split Legendary Stadium cards, which combine two Stadium cards played together to form extended artwork and passive effects. Named stadiums are Legendary Ocean Trench, Legendary Summit and Legendary Lava Lake, totalling six new cards.

Images of the Elite Trainer Box for the Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution—Delta Reign expansion, featuring Mega Rayquaza, have circulated online. KFC Singapore has launched a Pokémon crossover promotion running from August 19 to September 29, 2026 across all 71 of its restaurants. Collectibles creator TheCardScience claims an unnamed Millennium Print Group employee confirmed that the blue "RGB Mew" pulled on a July 25, 2026 Whatnot livestream is genuine, that three RGB variations exist, and that they appear roughly once per 20,000 packs. Neither The Pokémon Company nor Millennium Print Group has confirmed the claim, and no RGB rarity has been officially announced.

IGN compiled the ten most valuable Pokémon TCG cards released in 2026, using TCGplayer market values as of publication. Special Illustration Rare Pikachu ex 276/217 ($1,070.24) and Mega Gengar ex 284/217 ($1,066.64) top the list, and seven of the ten cards come from the Mega Evolution set Ascended Heroes.
